MOTHER

- 2D Computer Animated Film - 2019

Mother is a 2D computer-animated film that depicts my grandfather’s life from losing his mother at a young age to building his own family and later reuniting with his mother. The central theme of this film is the never-ending love between a mother and her son. The use of vibrant colors, gentle music, and character/background design and sound editing that reflects the flow of time all contribute to building emotional resonance throughout the film. For instance, the big clock in the background progresses the narrative while allowing the viewers to emotionally experience a man's 92-year-long life in a matter of seconds.

Mother received 6 awards including The Best Film in Festival from The Walt Disney TAFI (Teen Animation Festival International), and it was officially selected from 20+ film festivals, including 3 Academy Award® / BAFTA Qualifying film festivals—Edmonton, Indy Shorts, and Rhode Island international film festivals.

A BROKEN STAR

- 2D Computer Animated Film - 2019

A Broken Star is a story about a broken star reaching out to a heartbroken child to love himself again, and as a result, regaining its ability to shine. It's a film that I created during my times of struggle to heal myself and those in similar circumstances as I was in.

The use of various textures, vibrant color, and tone contrast not only creates dreamlike scenery but also encompasses the characteristics of sadness, confusion, hope, and happiness in the film.

This film does not use any dialogue, yet successfully conveys a wide set of emotions through the use of detailed animated motions and sound editing. A Broken Star placed 1st in the high school category of Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival and was officially selected from 10+ film festivals.
