"For Ejun Hong, Animation is a Means of Self–Discovery"

"For Ejun, who uses the medium to address her personal difficulties and the hardship of others, animation is a refuge."

"Ejun notes that the power of animation helped her discover herself and her artistic talents, and we're all the luckier for it. Every film of hers I watched was not only immaculately crafted, but left a profound impact on me. She’s not only an incredible artist, but a powerful storyteller, and I can’t wait to see the future of her animation career take hold."

Film Review on Mother - SDIFF 2019 Short Films Reviews

" This animated tribute used little to no words to convey the story of his life but instead the blend of simple shaped and very decorative patterns. The way the film went from life event to the next felt like the characters from some of those intricate clocks that have figures pop up. The gentle and calming music added more to the soft atmosphere even through those tragic scenes."

"Director Ejun Hong Talks about an Eye Disorder that Changed Her Life"

Film Review on A Broken Star - The Independent Critic

"This South Korea/Slovakia production is this collection's second animated short and it's produced with tender, emotionally resonant detail and richness of color and tone. It's an honest, natural film that leads nicely into the next short film in the collection.

CMRubinWorld - "Unidentifiable Eye Disorder - Personal Struggle to New Passion"

"I thought the manner in which this short film was developed was incredibly creative. The use of videos projected onto a screen and Hong moving through the clips in front of it was very unique and interesting to watch. Her narration was also filmed in a documentary-style format with changing angles and a black and white filter added, which again, contributed to this engrossing visual. Hong talks about overcoming this untimely situation and traveling far to find a new purpose that could be equated or even surpass the plan she had made for herself prior.

Unidentifiable Eye Disorder has a subject matter that is significant and undoubtedly should be shared, but the way in which it is told through this film – the methods that are utilized as a part of the storytelling – makes it all the more compelling. I would give this film 5 out of 5 stars."
