1044 Project for Romani Children is a project created by Animo Society, a student-organized club from The British International School of Bratislava (BISB) in Slovakia that raises awareness and solves societal problems of the Romani people.
The COVID-19 crisis has changed the lives of millions abruptly, and it has made many of us forget the other crises that cause suffering to numerous communities. Poverty in the segregated Romani communities is one of those crises; 87% of the Romani population live below the poverty line and frequently receive discrimination. Children are one of those who are most affected, due to the lack of attention and resources in education.
Therefore, Animo Society launched 1044 Project for Romani Children and reached out to several Romani villages in Slovakia; we created and sent educational activity kits every week to the children of those villages. From interactive art projects to playful math activities, we created activity kits that foster creativity and a love for learning in the children. Starting from April 2020, we've created over 10 weeks' worth of activity kits with themes such as Coronavirus safety, brain stimulation graphics, mathematics, and Romani history and culture. With the money we've raised through gogetfunding.com, we've sent approximately 4,500 activity kits to 15 Romani villages and educational institutions in Slovakia, cooperating with Cesta Von (Slovak NGO) and Catholic communities.

We, the team VicData, presents an innovative hygiene education application Watch Your Hand. Watch Your Hand is an educational smartphone application designed to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and future pandemics that could occur in the Post-Coronavirus World. We took issue with children's tendency to neglect to maintain hygiene even at such COVID-19 pandemic crisis.
Watch Your Hand is a smartphone application that targets parents, guardians, teachers, or anyone who guides children. This application utilizes AR (Augmented Reality) technology and Motion Detection technology to visualize cute bacterial characters on a smartphone screen when a camera recognizes a child's hand. Children will see how dirty their hands are by looking at such bacterial characters. In order for children to get rid of the bacterial characters, children would have to follow the 12-step hand-washing guidelines presented by the World Health Organization one by one.
